3. Advocacy & Diplomacy

This activity sets out to ensure that those presumed and found guilty of perpetuating genocide are punished according to international law empowered by the authorities.  Specific activities here include:

  • Advocate with authorities empowered to ensure that those alleged guilty of genocide are tried and if found guilty, punished, according to law.
  • Follow up and evaluate advocacy for the safety of survivors and access to justice
  • Educate survivors of the genocide on human rights in general, and especially on their rights in particular.
  • Awareness among genocide survivors on national laws that affect them
  • To support legal and judicial initiatives for genocide survivors

4. Communication, PR & Liaison

One of the focuses of GPE is attracting a diverse set of partnerships in areas of human rights in general and genocide prevention in particular, to meet the requirements of the initiative to have a global outreach system. The partnerships would contribute to filling the gaps in creating update and comprehensive picture on genocidal activities across the world and making a collective voice, and making comparison with observations on such activities committed on the Ethiopian side.  Genocidal activities conspicuously lack coverage in international media and rights groups. Preliminary assessment by the GPE indicates that documents officially disclosed regarding the atrocities in Ethiopia remain partial, rarely cover genocidal issues; extremely skewed towards militant groups; no complaint against the government not being able to protect citizens. In view of this the particular activities would include:

  • Establishing useful contacts with various organizations/institutions and benefactors at international meetings.
  • Pursue and perpetuate established contacts.
  • Identify the networks and national and international actors involved in the fight against genocide
  • Build alliances and networks with the actors identified.
  • Monitor established relationships
  • File requests for support and follow up.
  • Create a forum for the exchange of information on genocide survivors.

5. Counter Terrorism

- Collate data that evidently shows that the perpetrators are taking part in what could be termed terrorist activity in the legal and national security framework of various nations these perpetrators reside.

- Communicate these datasets to the appropriate intelligence community of the nations the perpetrators reside

6. Awareness, Deprogramming & Reconciliation

-   Produce programs that will increase awareness about the threats, potential escalations and root causes of the ongoing genocide against Amharas in Ethiopia.

- Continuously assess and prepare appropriate awareness material for other ethnic groups being targeted in Ethiopia.

- Establish projects that can undertake successful deprogramming extension work in areas where anti-specific ethnic group  narrative was disseminated.
